Once you get comfortable with the above routine you can add a shield (or a second weapon) and block shots to your shield side (or off hand weapon side) with the shield/off hand weapon.

Then when you are really comfortable doing the 5's go to free style combat, where the routine is thrown out the door!



As I stated originally, Fighting is something that is better shown in person rather than explained via electronic communications. It can be done, but its a bit harder. For optimal training experience attend one of the planned The Vikings - NA training sessions by visiting this page 
and/or go to the The Jomsvikings site and buy the training video they offer.  I own it and it contains all the basics and even some advanced techniques such as disarming.

Though The Vikings - NA  are in the beginning stages of forming 'ways of fighting' and most of our fighters are not that experienced in steel fighting we realize that in the long run The Fives is just a beginning point that that each of us will undoubtedly develop our own 'styles' of combat, as such we encourage everyone to experiment safely with broadening the current 'style.'
