Adults (18+) $50 (VNA members get a $10 discount)
All others FREE!

Meals
Breakfast each morning, a simple
lunch each afternoon, and a feast on
Saturday night is included in the
site fee.
Information on the feast and what will be served is
being put together. Stay
tuned for more information
Dinners will not be provided but a
local grocery store and eating
establishments are available within
a short distance from site.
Note: There will be food vendors on
site Saturday for the Open to the
Public day.
Living History
Public hours are in effect from 10 am to 5 pm
everyday
All participants in the village will be inspected and
must pass The Vikings basic kit check.
Acceptable kit is expected every day, and the
Authenticity officers reserve the right to ask people to meet standards throughout the
event.
Saturday will be open to the public, craft
demonstrations are highly suggested on this day.
Please contact the event organizers if you need anything
special for your demonstration.
It is our intent to make the longhouse a full time LH
environment. We will ask our guests to please make every effort to remember
this when enjoying it. Please hide (or leave behind) all modern
conveniences when joining us in the hall. We realize that some exceptions will be
necessary but want to keep these exceptions to a minimum. Village officers and
Authenticity officers reserve the right to ask people to meet this standard
throughout the event.
PLEASE NOTE
Last year one of our biggest complaints was that
bedding was not stowed away during the day. This
took away useful working space for some
artisans. This year we please ask that folks
stow their bedding during the day so that this
area can be used and not wasted. We wont patrol
this each day but we will move any items that we
are asked to.
Combat
While the focus of this years event will not be
combat, as always standard
training and 'pick up'
fighting is possible under the eye of any official VNA
training officer.
There will
be two short combat shows during the day on
Saturday while we are open to the public. Show
times to be announced.
Due to Norsa insurance concerns, all non VNA members*
who wish to participate in combat will be REQUIRED to
A) pay an additional $10 fee to cover additional
legal/liability costs
B) pass a Guest Assessment per The Vikings Training
Officers Handbook and be subject to those guidelines
Norsa reserves the right to waive these requirements on
a case by case basis.
Equestrian
Equestrian - the site is horse friendly but no organized
activities are
planned at this time, more to come on this as the event
draws near.
Camping
There is limited camping inside the longhouse.
Please RSVP if you
plan to sleep in the longhouse. Space will be issued on
a first come, first
serve basis. Pre-registering for this space is HIGHLY
recommended. Please
note that the hall may not be 'family oriented' at
times. Loud singing,
libacious story telling, and lots of beer will be
consumed over the course
of the event. Please consider this when weighing the
option of choosing the
longhall as your primary sleeping area.
Authentic tents are encouraged for those not wanting to
sleep in the
longhall. Authentic tents are limited to Viking wedges,
Anglo-Saxon Getelds,
lean to shelters and shadeflys. There will be ample
space for authentic
tents right outside the longhall.
Non-Authentic camping is available but will be out of
sight and is a short
walk from the village site.
Parking
Vehicles must be moved to parking immediately after
unpacking.
Vehicles will not be allowed onsite after 9:30 am each
day (this includes
staff vehicles)
Even before 9:30 am vehicles will not be allowed past
the wattle fences that
will enclose the farm.
Strong backs will be available to help folks pack their
stuff from the
fences to the camping area if needed (a very short
distance)
Parking will be out of sight but within walking
distance.
Facilities
At present there is no running water or
electricity on the
farmstead. Both of these things are available within
walking distance.
Drinking water will be provided by the event organizers.
Showers are a short walk from the site but will be
outdoor showers. Hot water will be provided.
Portapotties will be available but concealed as much as
possible
Special
Initially this event was suppose to be
centered around hunting (for the guys) and
cooking (for the gals) but we haven't had
much interest shown in the cooking aspect of
the proposal so this year instead of the
event being themed around a Danish farmstead
we are theming the event around a TBD
seasonal hunting camp (like L'Anse aux
Meadows is said to be by some.)
Each day will be filled with period hunting
and fishing demonstrations. Our trainers
will demonstrate period techniques in
snaring, bow hunting, and various fishing
techniques. Where applicable in season game
will be taken but all Missouri Hunting Laws
will be abided by.
Basic outdoor survival skills will also be a
topic that will be covered...AND TESTED.
All of the knowledge folks gain from this
even can be tested at the end of the week as
Sam will take interested parties out on an
overnight trek into the local wilderness.
Authentic gear only guys! This will be a
'take only what you can carry affair.'
This trek will not be for the meek! Think
seriously about whether you are prepared to
handle an over night trip into the woods in
October!
We promise a memorable trek for those who
chose to take advantage of something that
could be a once in a lifetime experience.
More info on this as it becomes available!
Also, ladies, we are planning enough
flexibility into the schedule that we can
arrange for additional cooking activities if
the need/interest arises.
Friday
evening will involve a pit roasted
hog and 'the fixins.' This feast is included
in the price of site and is to thank folks
for honoring us with their presence.
At some point during the event Olaf reserves
the right to hold an Althyng to discuss The
Vikings of North America and its future. The
timing of this is TBD at this time. More to
come on this as things unfold.
*Please note that while this is a Nyr Heida/VNA
event, it is being held on a
Norsa, Inc site. While Norsa, Inc supports the standards
and guidelines of
The Vikings and The Vikings-NA there are cases where
Norsa, Inc rules may
supersede them. We will try to keep these exceptions to
a minimum but in
cases were the BoD deems it necessary (to protect its
members, the group and
or the NFP org) we will make these exceptions know well
in advance! Please
make sure you and your group members read the event
flyer and understand
these rules. The BoD members are always available for
questions.*
**Anyone crossing an ocean to come to the event is
exempt from this rule**
Questions/Concerns can be sent to the
Norsa BoD.
